Counter Assault Coordination

Karen and Mingmei were standing by the side of the Tandy Gardens High School Gymnasium. Karen's sensor suite detected a burst of movement in the gym but as she turned the sensors of her holographic horned rim glasses away from the battle, the trace disappeared leave only an infrared trail and air disturbances.

It had been a weird day: Aliens had attacked. A cloaked figure had transformed the other Cheerleaders into a team of powered giants capable of taking on Godzilla while Ming and Karen had become a two girl command and control center. Samantha Wolfe had gone to scout out the situation but never returned. Karen didn't like to think about the implications of that! She had become the ultimate nerd -- she calculated that a 59 kilo female traveling at 890 kph would have created the displacement. Make that a very weird day. She heard Mingmei gasp simultaneously over the com link and behind her and turned to analyze the situation.

As Karen watched in horror, every Venusian ship trained its weapons on Samantha. The most gentle and unassuming of all her friends was consumed in a wave or purple fire. "Samantha Hit. Power levels falling. Bio-signs erratic" Karen's voice went out over the com to the Kanagaroos helmet worn. Studying the holographic display, Karen was relieved to see that the quiet teen had not been obliterated. Her life-signs were fluctuating but stabilizing. The energy that had supported her battle form was draining away and as Karen watched she dwindled to normal size and fell Alexandra's commands burst from the com: "Aegis formation. Pyramid shield!... Defensive Line Activate!" A squad of force fields in the form of defensive linesmen appeared beneath the falling Samantha, breaking her fall. "Mingmei! I need weapons! Man down!"

A translucent wall of force interposed itself in response to Lita's hastily muttered incantation. The remaining empowered squad members clustered around their fallen friend. "Defensive Line!" a second sequence of overlapping force fields appeared above the trio as they joined arms. Jo swung to Alex and Lita's shoulders as the faced an agitated fleet. "Combo Weapon: Wave Motion Howitzer!" A space warp formed and from the ether a 34 meter replica of Alex's favorite field artillery appeared. Composed of a 5 dimensional metallic lattice, the system began converting atmosphere gathered through a ram scoop into a tachyonic charge. With 9 seconds of power remaining, the Ultra Force unleashed the charge to create a rip in the fabric of the universe that obscured all sensors, blinded any observers, and obliterated any trace of the targeted ship...

"Building charge!" Alex barked a second time and Karen watched in awe and horror as the weapon of massive destruction prepared for a second shot.
