Colonel

Connor Cornel had never actually expected to meet any aliens when he was assigned to the Extraterrestrial Invasion Response Team.  After a distinguished career, he had considered this assignment a way of containing the free thinkers that did not respond to traditional military discipline, but were essential in an unexpected crisis. As one of those free thinkers, he had regarded his position to be as much a punishment as a promotion. What he had never expected was to coordinating a defense against bug-eyed amazon saucer jockeys with a trio of Sailor Galaxia wannabes. SNAFU but not FUBAR.

The saucers’ psionically controlled transmutation beams were only targeting individuals at the moment. The Brain Bank believes that the entire propulsion system to be based on applied telekinesis, plenty of power to knock his people out of the air. Positioned out of LOS from the XIF, the second wave had arrived with specialized weapons. <Throwing spoons at the Geller-heads>

If the GH Commander could be believed, the XIF could dodge a nuclear attack by skipping through the moment of explosion. Power consumption would be extreme. <Perhaps a timed sequence of nukes. Set an Orion drive against their Time Twister!> Connor practiced a meditative technique visualizing maracas. That should keep the skull crackers out! The GHC had given legitimate security codes, but a telepath COULD have penetrated his defenses. A projective might have given him the illusion of the correct codes. Who knows WHAT a precog could have done to operation security. Caught up in his justifiable paranoia, the Colonel failed to notice the Hyper-girl conference end and the silent strides of a teenager approaching his position.

”Or our offer of assistance could be genuine, although cloaked in our own need for operational security, sir!” The thought rang in the Colonels head like a shot! The blue haired girl’s voice continued, “Time is short. We have temporarily ‘neutralized’ their main weapon. Your current armament won’t be able to penetrate their shield but we have been authorized to provide BKN armor to any of your command willing to face the enemy. The Biologically Interactive Kinetetic Infrastructure (Neurologically Interfaced) suits are used in construction – Their Tractor-Pressor  controls are easy to operate and will be configured to disrupt the Venusians’ shields.” An image flashed into the Colonel’s mind of a powered suit reminiscent of Robbie the Robot causing vibrations in the side of a flying torus and ripping the side of the Venusians’ craft open. “We will be inducting civilians as deputies in the Galactic Hyper-girls to provide additional support and attempting an assault on the enemy command module.” The image of the sphere in the center of the venusian craft exploded to show individual room for communications, tactical, command, and medical support. “Do you have any volunteers to form the 1st Bio-armor Assault Battalion of Earth?”
